Today is Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. The theme for this year’s event is “Invent the Future.”
The program was created 19 years ago to create an enriching educational experience for our daughters and sons. More than just a way for kids to get out of school for the day, as some people perceive it, the program is credited with expanding opportunities and transforming the lives of millions of youth both nationally and internationally. When the program works as intended, it forges partnerships between businesses and schools, adults and children, workplaces and neighborhoods.
I’m curious about two things. First, Did Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day (or formerly Take Our Daughters to Work Day) plant the seed for your entrepreneurial future? Second, do any of you as current business owners encourage your employees to participate in this program? If you do, what kinds of meaningful activities do the kids participate in during the day? What kinds of results have you seen as a result of encouraging participation in the program?
